Mindy Kaling was on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and announced some really big news. The 41-year-old actress announced that she had given birth to a healthy baby boy on September 3rd, 2020. The baby’s name is Spencer, and Kaling was able to hide her pregnancy for the entire nine months.

Without red carpet events and with Zoom interviews that only show video from the shoulders up, many people are learning about babies after they have arrived, instead. Fans don’t mind the surprises; in fact, they seem to like it more than them announcing they’re pregnant.

Mindy Kaling made it very clear on The Late Show that she had been hiding her pregnancy even though she would regularly post full-length photos of herself on her Instagram. A fan even commented on one of her latest Instagram posts about how confused they were about how she had been able to post all the pictures on her profile and didn’t look pregnant in any of them.

Many stars have surprised fans with their pregnancy news over the past few years, like Beyoncé during the 2011 VMAs after her performance or Blake Lively, who showed up on the red carpet with a baby bump. Kylie Jenner hid her entire pregnancy from fans and later told the world that she had given birth to baby girl Stormi. Fellow sister Khloe Kardashian was also able to hide the news of her pregnancy for most of her term.
